By reducing initial capital costs and ongoing running costs, you will increase your profits. It’s a simple equation, but one that is often hard to achieve in real life.
Whether your project is a large home, student accommodation, or a multi-storey block of flats we have the skills to make sure it is optimised for energy usage and designed to the level of detail required to achieve a seamless installation.
Our mechanical and electrical engineers can provide a full design package covering all elements such as heating, ventilation, water, drainage, power, lighting, fire, and security. This work is backed up by our energy consultants who ensure these systems are designed to use the minimum amount of energy, whilst also keeping the capital costs down.

The profit margins in the residential sector are particularly tight, and we have the means to ensure that you make the most profits possible from your next project. Energy usage is the key cost factor, so ensuring that the correct equipment is installed and that it is utilised in the most efficient way is vital.
Our team has provided many Energy Assessments, which highlight the optimum heating/cooling strategy for your project, be it the initial costs or the long-term running costs that are your key consideration.
The Energy Assessments are our starting point, and they show how the energy in your building will be used and allow us to model different ways to keep this to a minimum.
The cost of the energy assessment is always recovered in the savings made by the subsequent design, so it is effectively free.
Our integrated team of BEM and M&E consultants can offer:
Our expertise can help solve complex problems relating to heating, water, underfloor heading, drainage and renewable energy systems, as well as more specialise systems such as compressed air, medical and dental gas systems.
It’s imperative to ensure a safe installation, and so our team of electrical design engineers will speak to you and your team to build a clear picture of what you expect to achieve.
As Energy consultants we’re able to advise on a range of energy solutions to ensure your project yields positive results in both its sustainability efforts, and in saving you costs for the future.
With a full understanding of how the house/flat will be used we can provide a mechanical system design that suits your needs.
From highly complex remote heating control systems to more traditional radiators, we will design a system that is cost-effective and energy-efficient.
Where metering is required for separate flats, then we will include this and ensure you have a system that is easily billable to the resident.
The electrical design of a residential property varies greatly, so we always get a full understanding of what is required.
Insight into the project aims gives us the detailed information we need to be able to specify the correct types of lighting, the most appropriate security system and the most effective power distribution system.
Our experienced energy consultants understand how heat and electrical power are used within a residential setting, be it a home or a block of flats.
With this understanding, we can ensure energy usage is kept to a minimum whilst also keeping initial costs down.
We create a computer-generated thermal model of the property which shows the energy usage, and we can run different scenarios to see what heating strategy will be the most effective.
Our work on heating and thermal models has spanned the globe giving us a broad range of experience that covers all types of climates and weather conditions.
The energy work, done at the start of any project, informs our subsequent design allowing us to modify and re-run different options as the design develops.

We were contacted by Fortem Ltd, following previous work for them, and were asked to look at their proposal to re-develop an existing care home so that it meets modern care and fit-out standards.
Carrington Street in Nottingham is ideally located in Nottingham City Centre close to the Broadmarsh development and the train station. The clients (Bhatia Best) aim was to turn this old bank building into 8 apartments for local professionals.
High-end Residential Design and Technical Support
We were called in urgently to replace a failed Mechanical Contractor to a site in Knightsbridge, London. The site, being run by OD Projects, was for 5 seven-storey houses and 3 apartments with a combined basement level plantroom.
We review your existing information to understand the project at hand.
We’ll confirm and finalise your exact requirements before ensuring client approval on all details.
Our team will perform necessary technical calculations to support the design and project feasibility.
We then liaise with specialist and equipment manufacturers to select appropriate equipment.
We then develop detailed drawings to give you a visual representation of the project plan with specifications.
We create a comprehensive list of all required equipment which includes quantities, and delivery timelines.
Our team document specifications to detail on the exact installation methods and testing requirements, which must be met before handover.
Last but not least, we provide costing estimates as the design progresses to keep you informed on budgetary impacts.
How have we helped the commercial property and residential sector?
Our thermal models have been used in many Energy Assessments to help clients understand how energy will be used within the building and to further guide the selection of the optimum heating/cooling system.
This was well demonstrated in our work to save energy across five student accommodation blocks across nationwide.
In each case the building housed over 250 students and was less than five years old, and through our work we were able to recommend minor improvements that resulted in energy savings of over £500,000 per year.
In another case we presented 5 different heating options to a client who was developing a set of farm buildings and a farmhouse into 14 holiday lets in a remote area of Staffordshire. By keeping his initial and running costs down he was able to offer these to the market at a lower rate than his competitors.
Over recent projects we have managed to save our clients millions of pounds and significantly reduced their carbon footprints.
The simple process of reviewing energy usage first and then running different options through our software enables us to provide fully costed choices to our clients so that they can assess the figures independently.
Once the options have been considered, our mechanical and electrical designers produce the detailed design ready for installation by the selected plumbers and electricians.
Residential projects can be highly personal, and we are experienced at identifying the key elements which will deliver the customer with the perfect building.
It can be a daunting task to keep track of on-going projects and installations with such complexities such as overhauling the foundations in which your building produces energy.
As part of our work, we create clear documentation that outlines precisely how products and structures should be completed, so there’s no stone left unturned. Our equipment schedules have an important place not just to ensure the job is completed with accuracy but ensure the longevity of your sustainability efforts.
We are experienced in working at BIM Level 2 and are comfortable working alongside architects, interior designers, structural engineers and so on.
In order to create a design that is highly detailed and clear to all parties to not only cut costs and lose time, but to ensure projects are finished on their completion date to a standard that we expect to see.
When working on a complex project that involves heating, water, gas and electricity, it is vital that proper steps are taken to ensure safety, and the overall goals of the client.
RIBA stages ensure a smooth work flow with a clear road map that can be followed by multiple skillsets as part of the project.
