Here at BEM services we’ve worked with many schools and higher education institutions throughout the UK.
Our expertise in this field even extends to institutions with science, technology, engineering and maths specialisms as well as schools that offer care for children with special educational needs.
We have experience in all areas of education and understand the needs of teachers, lecturers and students which allow them to thrive. Get in touch with us today to learn more about how our services can support your school or higher education institution.
Our expertise expands across various education specialisms such as low noise areas, access control, special educational needs children and energy audits.
We have a deep understanding of the critical nature of key areas within the educational environments, allowing us to lead projects to their full potential.
During projects we work closely with Authorised Engineers to ensure proposed designs can be operated in a safe manner. This ensured all aspects of our MEP engineer service meets the high standards of safety compliance which support the vital functions of our school and education facilities.
Our integrated team of BEM and MEP consultants can offer:
Our expertise can help solve complex problems relating to heating, water, underfloor heading, drainage and renewable energy systems, as well as more specialise systems such as compressed air, medical and dental gas systems.
It’s imperative to ensure a safe installation, and so our team of electrical design engineers will speak to you and your team to build a clear picture of what you expect to achieve.
As Energy consultants we’re able to advise on a range of energy solutions to ensure your project yields positive results in both its sustainability efforts, and in saving you costs for the future.
Our services cover the traditional building services such as heating, ventilation, water and drainage plus the specialist elements such as noise suppression for quiet areas such as libraries, science classrooms with fume cupboards and gas outlets are also specialist areas that we cover.

Our services cover the traditional building services such as lighting, power and data plus the specialist elements such as access control and external lighting in key areas such as pick up and drop off points.
Learn more about how our electrical design services can support your school by reading about our work with Leicestershire County Council.
Our services include energy monitoring, review and reporting for all types of buildings. We can cover heat metering (to ascertain where heat is being lost) and electrical power metering to inform decisions on future energy reduction plans.

We review your existing information to understand the project at hand.
We’ll confirm and finalise your exact requirements before ensuring client approval on all details.
Our team will perform necessary technical calculations to support the design and project feasibility.
We then liaise with specialist and equipment manufacturers to select appropriate equipment.
We then develop detailed drawings to give you a visual representation of the project plan with specifications.
We create a comprehensive list of all required equipment which includes quantities, and delivery timelines.
Our team document specifications to detail on the exact installation methods and testing requirements, which must be met before handover.
Last but not least, we provide costing estimates as the design progresses to keep you informed on budgetary impacts.
At Bingham Primary School was a new build school with 16 classrooms designed to BIM Level 2 standards and built to EPC A level of energy usage. For this project we produced a highly technical design resulting in a very low energy usage building. We also Took an outline design through to detailed design and monitored it through to completion and handover, all drawn in 3D with additional clash detection completed prior to works starting on site.
At Rushcliffe Secondary School we did the complete electrical design for the electrical contractor taking an outline design through to detailed design and monitoring the project through to completion. All done in 3D and in liaison with the mechanical contractor.
At Leeds Trinity University, we put heat meters on their main gas plant room and reviewed the output. This showed that a new 2MW boiler was required. We then completed the design for this new boiler and monitored the project until completion.
On a separate occasion we also designed the M&E systems for the conversion of an old building into a new gym and weight training facility spread over two floors, and constructed quickly over the school summer break.
We have years of hands-on experience across a range of industries and have built a reputation for delivery high-quality solutions through our mechanical engineering, electrical and energy services.
Specifically for the education sector, we can solve complex problems to assist School Estate Managers and Directors to ensure systems remain operational and efficient.
Our expertise also covers various education specialisms such as low noise areas, access control, special educational needs children and energy audits.
It can be a daunting task to keep track of on-going projects and installations with such complexities such as overhauling the foundations in which your building produces energy.
As part of our work, we create clear documentation that outlines precisely how products and structures should be completed, so there’s no stone left unturned. Our equipment schedules have an important place not just to ensure the job is completed with accuracy but ensure the longevity of your sustainability efforts.
We are experienced in working at BIM Level 2 and are comfortable working alongside architects, interior designers, structural engineers and so on.
In order to create a design that is highly detailed and clear to all parties to not only cut costs and lose time, but to ensure projects are finished on their completion date to a standard that we expect to see.
When working on a complex project that involves heating, water, gas and electricity, it is vital that proper steps are taken to ensure safety, and the overall goals of the client.
RIBA stages ensure a smooth work flow with a clear road map that can be followed by multiple skillsets as part of the project.
